Drinks hold up in heat

DRINKS were sufficient yesterday at most of the stores at the Expo site. Some mobile stalls at Zone C sold out water, juice and Coca Cola at around 4pm, but other drinks were available.

The Expo bureau suggests visitors to buy night tickets, which allow people to enter the site after 5pm. The tickets are available at all the entrances to the site and cost 90 yuan (US$13).

Switzerland, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Spain attracted long queues that circled the pavilions several times. People had to wait for more than two hours to enter the pavilions.

Among the entrances to the Expo site, Gate 8 at Houtan saw the longest queue at around 10:00am with 25,000 people waiting for a security check.

By 12pm all gates reported that queues were clear.
