Drop in road accidents

THERE were 278 road accidents in the first quarter of this year resulting in 182 fatalities, Shanghai police said. The number of accidents, deaths and injuries were down 11.5, 31.3 and 12.7 percent respectively from the last quarter of last year. The major causes of the accidents involving motor vehicles were driving in the opposite lanes, ignoring traffic signals and drunk driving.
