Drug addict attacks, injures police officer in Xuhui District

A 34-year-old drug addict attacked and injured a police officer at a police station in downtown Shanghai today.

The drug addict, surnamed Yan, stabbed a policeman with a fruit knife at a police station on 51 Lingling Road in Xuhui District about 6:50am this morning, xinmin.cn reported.

Yan was brought under control by other officers.

He reportedly was hallucinating when he was being questioned by police, the report said.

The injured officer is in stable condition.

Police are continuing with their investigation.
