Drug smuggler held
A PAKISTANI woman was detained at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport for trying to smuggle nearly 5.7 kilograms of heroin hidden in a Persian carpet, the customs police said yesterday. The drugs were stored in slim tubes and well-weaved into the carpet. Customs inspectors detained the woman on September 16 when she landed in Shanghai after analyzing passengers’ information. Previously, they would keep a watch on passengers’ behaviors on arrival. Shanghai said the new method has proved successful after cracking down six drug-smuggling cases this year.
