Drug-driver detained for 15 days
POLICE have clocked up their fifth drug-driving offense of the year after detaining a man for driving under the influence of methamphetamine.
The man, surnamed Yang, was stopped for a routine check at the exit of the G15 Expressway about 3am on Wednesday last week, police said yesterday.
After checking his driving license, police found Yang had a record of taking drugs and asked him for a urine test,
The man initially refused, but agreed to cooperate when his wife and her student, who were also in the car, complained that they were going to be late for a flight.
Police said Yang then admitted to taking methamphetamine 15 days earlier.
A police car took his wife and her student to the airport, while Yang was handed over to Jinshan District police.
He was given a 15-day detention and had his driving license suspended.
