A MARRIED couple were knocked down and killed by a drunk driver yesterday morning while crossing a road in Minhang District, police said.
The husband and wife worked as street cleaners and were crossing Gudai Road when they were hit by a car traveling at high speed. The wife died at the scene, while the husband succumbed to his injuries later in hospital. A 24-year-old man from east China’s Shandong Province, has been detained in connection with the incident, police said, adding that the suspect failed a breathalyzer test.
