Drunk man caught after Metro bomb threat
A 41-YEAR-OLD alcoholic man was caught after threatening to detonate a bomb on Metro Line 2, police said today.
The threat was false and was motivated by the man having been injured in a fall down the stairs at a Metro station after getting drunk in February, police said.
The suspect, surnamed Yang, called police at about 3pm on Saturday, saying his friend would trigger an explosion on Metro Line 2 in a few days using gasoline and an explosive which they already had bought, authorities said.
Yang had been identified by police when he made a second telephone threat on Monday. Several hours, he was taken into custody in a passageway at the Century Avenue Station, where he was found drunk and sleeping on the ground, police said.
