Elderly justice

THE number of civil cases involving senior citizens accepted by the Jing’an District People’s Court last year rose 26 percent to 573.

The number of cases actually handled by the court rose 23 percent to 557, it said.

The majority of the people involved were in their 60s and 70s, though people in their 80s accounted for 103 cases. The oldest person involved was 98 years old. Most cases involved disputes over money or fights with neighbors.
