Elderly watchman jailed for abusing child

A 70-year-old watchman was jailed for two years at Zhabei District People's Court today for sexually abusing a six-year-old girl.
The man, surnamed Jiang, was watchman at a garage in a residential complex on Zhijiang Road W.
On September 14 last year, Jiang saw the girl riding her bicycle in the complex and lured her into the garage.
He persuaded the child to sit on his lap and touched her private parts, prosecutors said.
The court heard Jiang used the same strategy to abuse the girl again on September 18 and September 19.
He was held by police on September 20 after the girl told her family.
Jiang's assaults were picked up on a surveillance camera and he pleaded guilty in court.
The court said what Jiang had done caused great damage to the little girl, both physically and mentally, and therefore he should be punished.
