Ele.me receives 120,000 yuan penalty ticket after state TV exposed dirtiest side of food ordering

FOOD delivery website ele.me was fined 120,000 yuan (US$19,354) today by Shanghai's food safety watchdog for violating China's food safety law.
This came after a number of restaurants registered on the Shanghai-based website to provide food delivery service were exposed to be unlicensed and filthy with untrue information in a CCTV quality investigation program last night.
The Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said it would conduct a thorough investigation on the website's business while other punishments might ensue.
Online photographs of the Shisuda restaurant in Beijing showed a spotless stainless steel cooking stove. However, its kitchen turned out to be small and dark with oil stains everywhere, according to footage aired on the annual consumer rights program.
A woman is seen biting open a sausage and throwing it into fried rice which is then poured into a dirty lunch-box.
In addition, food ordered from five restaurants with different names and addresses turned out to be from the same place in Tongzhou.
