Ex-rail deputy jailed for graft

A former deputy director of Shanghai Railway Administration has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after taking more than 750,000 yuan (US$121,000) in bribes, the Shenyang Railway Intermediate People’s Court said yesterday. The court heard that 55-year-old Kong Zhaoping helped a private enterprise owner, surnamed Wei, win a contract in 2007. Kong also took money for favors from another business owner, it heard.
