False teeth platform launched

AN online false teeth platform has been launched in the city.
Announcing the launch, Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said it would record all information of production and sales of false teeth.
By scanning the code on the package of false teeth, details of the materials used, along with the name, address and license of the producer, as well as the product’s registered number, are made available to patients.
This would help them to avoid using the wrong product or being sent false teeth made from inferior materials, officials said. They added that the authority could also use information on the platform to conduct inspections and investigations.
Shanghai has 102 licensed false teeth producers, who together account for a tenth of medical equipment producers in the city.
Previously, patients were given a card containing detailed information for each false tooth, but cards cannot meet demands for quick traceability.
The medical equipment industry association had developed the online platform under the direction of Shanghai FDA, officials said.
