Family of 3 killed in fire

AN 8-month-old boy and both his parents were killed yesterday when a fire ripped through their home in Baoshan District. The fire broke out about 3am while the family was sleeping in an attic room above the grocery store they ran. The husband’s mother, who was sleeping on a lower floor, discovered the fire but was unable to reach her family to alert them. After hearing the older woman’s cries for help, neighbors called the emergency services and began trying to tackle the blaze with buckets of water. Firefighters put out the fire in 30 minutes, but they were too late to save the couple and their infant. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
