Fatal crash bus driver ‘fully responsible’
A BUS driver whose vehicle crashed into a pillar on Yan’an Road elevated highway last month, leaving two people dead and 20 injured, was fully responsible for “not safely controlling the bus,” according to the accident report by police in Changning District.
This was acquired by thepaper.cn from relatives of a victim yesterday.
“Shen Zhilin, the driver, didn’t safely control the bus and drive on the correct route as marked on the ground,” the report said.
The bus had no mechanical defects, and Shen was not driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or disease, nor were there any external factors which could cause the accident, according to the report cited by thepaper.cn.
Based on the report and Chinese traffic laws, Shen, who was seriously injured in the crash and is still in hospital, could face criminal charges.
