Fengxian gets tough on IPR
A SHARP increase has been reported in criminal intellectual property infringement cases the Fengxian District People’s Procuratorate handled last year.
This was due to its tougher crackdown and closer cooperation with police, prosecutors in Fengxian District said yesterday.
Prosecutors last year handled 36 intellectual property infringement cases — up more than 400 percent on the previous year. These involved 61 people, up almost 800 percent on 2013.
By last month, they had tackled 11 such cases involving 43 people this year.
The total amount of money involved in the 47 infringement cases was more than 50 million yuan (US$7.8 million), said prosecutors.
