Film festival to gather celebrities
The 15th Shanghai International Film Festival will gather more than 400 film celebrities from home and abroad on its opening red carpet at Shanghai Grand Theater and other major events, the organizer said yesterday.
Stars confirmed to attend the festival running on June 16-24 include mainland film makers Feng Xiaogang, Lu Chuan and Chinese American theater and film director Sherwood Hu.
Feng will promote his new film, "Remembering 1942," about a deadly famine in central China that took 3 million lives in 1942. Lu and Hu will bring to movie buffs the latest news about the production of their highly anticipated movies "The Last Supper" and "Amazing."
This year's festival has received 1,643 entries from 106 countries and regions competing in various categories.
"Movie buffs will be offered a rare chance to see around 300 acclaimed and classic foreign and domestic films," said Tang Lijun, an official with the festival's organizing committee.
