Shanghai made a big impression in bringing the arts to residents last year, officials said yesterday.
The first Shanghai Citizens Art Festival, which ran throughout 2013, offered around 49,000 interactive cultural and arts events. These attracted more than 29 million people.
The festival also showed acclaimed musical performances for free on giant LED screens in community plazas and presented other free events to local people. Grassroots talents were also discovered. This year's Shanghai Citizens Art Festival will be launched on March 23.
