Firecrackers seized
A man suspected of having unlawfully sold nearly 400 boxes of fireworks and firecrackers in the city’s suburban areas has been arrested for illegal operation, Songjiang District prosecutors said.
They added that the suspect surnamed Guo, 22, often drove his minivan, loaded with boxes, to sell firework products at suburban markets, charging up to 70 yuan (US$10) a box. He rented two warehouses for storage.
His crime was exposed in November when police patrolled a retail mall in Songjiang. They later seized more than 1,000 boxes from Guo’s warehouses and van. The fireworks were worth more than 120,000 yuan, prosecutors said.
