Firefighters die after Shanghai high-rise explosion

TWO firefighters died when they fell from the 13th floor of an apartment block in Shanghai's Xuhui District today.
The fire had broken out on the 13th floor of the building on Longwu Road at 2pm.
Firefighters Qian Lingyun and Liu Jie were engaged in rescue efforts at the scene when an explosion caused them to be thrown from the building, the city's firefighting authorities said.
They were taken to hospital but later died from their injuries.
Qian, 23 and Liu, 20 had joined the city's fire service in December 2012.
