Firemen talk sacked woman out of suicide

FIREFIGHTERS yesterday talked a woman out of committing suicide by leaping from a shopping plaza on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

The woman, who was in her 30s, appeared on a terrace of the Hongyi Plaza six floors up about 3:30pm.

After inflating a huge air cushion on the pavement below, firefighters then tried to talk the woman down to safety.

They succeeded after about an hour, witnesses said.

The woman said later that she had decided to take her own life after losing her job as a cleaner, according to xinmin.cn
