SHANGHAI Food and Drug Administration yesterday warned locals not to buy and eat poisonous balloonfish, which is believed best tasting in spring.
Officials said people start to feel numb 30 minutes to three hours after eating the fish and can die due to respiration failure. There is no antidote. FDA suggested people call hotline 962727 if detecting illegal balloonfish sales in the city.
