Fishing for cheaper seafood
A trading center for imported seafood will open near to Shanghai’s pilot free trade zone next year, Xinmin Evening News reported yesterday.
The Linghai International Aquatic Trade Center is being developed at a cost of 800 million yuan (US$129.3 million) and is set to open in May.
By representing domestic and foreign companies, and offering sales, storage and cold chain delivery services, the center, which is expected to handle about 500,000 tons of produce a year, hopes to drive down the cost of seafood, the report said.
