Five workers killed in suspected pickle pool poisoning accident

Five workers were killed today while 4 others were being treated in hospital after they fell into a salt pool used to produce Chinese pickles inside a food factory on Chongming Island in Shanghai, according to Xinhua news agency.
The factory was located on the Luhua Town on the island, it’s reported.
Shanghai work safety watchdog said a worker collapsed when cleaning the pool and eight others continuously fell when they tried to help the first victim.
All the workers were rushed to hospital while five were already confirmed dead.
It’s unclear whether they were poisoned by harmful gas from the pool while an investigation is still under way.
