Food source to be tracked in Shanghai
SHANGHAI is keen to boost the development of food traceability system before the 2018 China International Import Expo.
The Shanghai Commission of Commerce held a meeting yesterday and highlighted the need for a food traceability system, in which the source of the food can be traced, and to raise its awareness among citizens while also underlining the need to promote the CIIE which will be held in Shanghai from November 5-10.
“We will use all powers to provide security for the CIIE,” said Wu Xingbao, deputy director of the commission.
Shanghai will boost training for the expo, especially for food traders.
The commerce commission officially released a list of sites for developing the food circulation traceability system, and setting up a mechanism to trace them. It aims to encourage companies to proactively get involved in food traceability and guarantee food security.
Wu said that Shanghai will improve the management of food distribution during the CIIE.
