A FRENCHMAN faces robbery charges, accused of stealing mobile phones to feed his drug habit, Jing’an District prosecutors said yesterday.
The un-named man, riding a motorcycle, is accused of snatching a mobile phone from two people on a street using an app to hail a taxi. Police say he stole four phones, worth 9,140 yuan (US$1,330), saying he needed the money for drugs.
