Fraud gang busted
NINE people from China’s mainland have been charged with fraud for their roles in a telecom scam that swindled members of the public out of 1.8 million yuan (US$291,000). Shanghai police cracked the criminal gang, which operated from Cambodia. Ten other members, all from Taiwan, have been transferred to authorities on the island. The crooks swindled victims by posing as bank clerks and employees of China Telecom.
