Fright for woman in own home
A man who allegedly followed a delivery man to a client’s home and attempted to rob the family has been arrested, Jing’an District People’s Procuratorate said.
On July 15, a woman surnamed Xu received a package from a delivery man, who seemed not to notice being followed, prosecutors said.
The follower, a middle-aged man surnamed Zheng, was accused of pushing Xu into her home as soon as the delivery man left and alleged to have taken out a knife, about 20 centimeters long, demanding money.
Xu’s husband, her daughter and her son-in-law were said to have heard a commotion from a bedroom and rushed to rescue her. The accused is then said to have threatened to kill himself.
The family were then able to grab his knife, subdue him and call the police, prosecutors said.
