Game fair set to draw 350,000

THE city’s game lovers can sample more than 1,000 games from about 300 companies at ChinaJoy, Asia’s biggest game fair.

The four-day event will open from July 27 at Shanghai New International Expo Center.

E-sports, music, comics, films, online reading and virtual reality technology entertainment are also featured.

The fair is expected to attract nearly 350,000 visitors this year. Last year, it drew over 300,000.

“Chinajoy has greatly promoted the development of Shanghai's game industry,” said Peng Weiguo, deputy head of the city’s press and publication authority.

According to Peng, last year the city’s online game industry’s revenue reached 56.46 billion yuan (US$8.3 billion), accounting for a third of the China market.

China has become the biggest game market in the world. In 2015, the country’s game industry posted a revenue of 140.7 billion yuan.
