THE China Food and Drug Administration yesterday called for an investigation into the use of gelatin products following media reports about the use of industrial waste in food and drugs.
All relevant departments should carry out surprise inspections of gelatin manufacturers and tighten examination of the entire production chain, it said.
Media reports on Saturday said some firms used gelatin made from industrial waste leather in the production of food and drugs.
