Girl, 10, stays calm during burglary
A 10-YEAR-OLD girl is being praised for showing great maturity by staying calm during an unsuccessful burglary attempt at her house in Baoshan District.
In a program aired on Shanghai Television, the girl said she was on the third floor of her villa, while her grandmother was sleeping in her room on the second floor. When she walked out of her room around 9pm, a man suddenly appeared and put a knife on her throat and told her to stay still.
“He asked me where my mother had kept the jewelries and the password of my father’s locker,” the girl said.
As she did not have the answers, the burglar told her to sit besides the computer while he searched the house. The girl did as ordered.
“I was afraid if I shouted or screamed, he would hurt me. So I called police after he left,” the girl said.
The man left without taking anything. Police caught him later after checking the surveillance video.
The girl was unhurt.
