Girl dies after jumping from burning apartment

A 10-year-old girl jumped from her burning apartment and died this morning in Shanghai’s Baoshan District, firefighters said.
The girl lived with her father, who was not home because he works night shifts, when she jumped from their fifth floor apartment. He had locked the door of the two-bedroom apartment from the outside.
The girl landed on cement and was rushed to hospital but died of injuries sustained in the fall.
The cause of the fire was not reported.
