TEN new-energy taxis went into operation in Minhang District recently.
The district has never had such vehicles on its street before. The e6 electric cars, which are manufactured by BYD, have the same flagdown rate as “normal” taxis in the district, but they look different. Instead of being painted orange, they are painted blue and white. The cars can run for up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. Each one costs about 320,000 yuan (US$49,300).
