Gym refund after trainers make a dash
A CITY gym has offered a refund to a customer after two successive fitness instructors he was assigned quit.
The customer, surnamed Liang, told Labor Daily that he bought 50 fitness sessions with a private coach from two branches of Tera Wellness Club in the Pudong New Area. But after 27 sessions, the first coach quit in May without telling Liang.
He was assigned a second fitness instructor — who quit after just one session, the paper reported yesterday.
Liang had paid for sessions with qualified instructors, but learnt from his first coach that there were no qualified instructors at the two outlets, according to the paper.
The gym goer asked for a refund of 5,100 yuan (US$822) for the remaining sessions.
After making his claim, Liang received numerous calls from the manager of one of the gyms who insisted there would be no refund and advised him to drop his bid for a refund.
However, Liang received his refund after he complained to the media.
There have been several complaints about gyms recently.
In September, the Huoli Wuxian Fitness Center in Pudong closed suddenly, leaving many of its users in the lurch.
The owner is reportedly missing with the cash.
