Haichang Ocean Park to open in August

THE Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, which is set to open in August in the Pudong New Area, will feature a mermaid bay, polar town, snow kingdom, submarine world and ocean tribe.
Visitors will be taken on a journey to explore the unique polar landscape, magic ocean world and stunning lava. They can also participate in various exploration events.
The park will have six pavilions, three interactive and performance venues, two cinemas and about 10 amusement facilities.
Visitors will be able to admire blue whales swimming above their head at the dome cinema, and watch penguins take a stroll in groups at the polar town.
They will take cable cars and trains and experience thrilling volcanic drift and dolphin roller coaster.
The park, which will also include orca, jellyfish and whale shark, will have a trial operation in August before officially opening on September 28.
It also includes a resort hotel with ocean creatures themed rooms. It expects to receive 3.2 million tourists in the first year and 5 to 6 million visitors per year in the following years.
