Hero injured by thieves gets free plastic surgery at local hospital
A YOUNG man who was left with a 25-centimeter-long, U-shape scar on the head after being seriously injured by enraged pickpockets after he stopped a street theft by alerting the intended victim received free plastic surgery at a local hospital yesterday.
Sui Jincheng, 26, suffered a fractured skull in the beating he received for warning a female pedestrian that the gang was targeting her. He was honored by the city government for his heroism.
He received neurosurgery and was left with a huge scar on part of his scalp that was left devoid of hair.
Doctors at Shanghai No. 455 Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army offered him surgery to implant over 2,000 hairs on his head to help cover the scar.
The incident took place on October 31, 2011, at the crossing of Guoshun and Yingkou roads in Yangpu District.
