Hit-and-run driver arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a woman by driving over her as she lay in the road after being knocked down by another car a few minutes earlier, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday.
The woman was lying unattended in the road as the driver of the car who first hit her went to get help, they said.
The suspect is accused of running over the victim and dragging her body along the road after it became caught under his car. It was his actions that caused the woman’s death, they said.
Prosecutors said they have also arrested two other men on the charge of trying to destroy evidence by dismantling the offending vehicle.
