Hit-and-run motorist secures compensation

AN insurance company should pay 42,696 yuan (US$6,252) in compensation to a driver though he fled the scene after a traffic accident, Yangpu District People's Court ruled yesterday.
On October 20, 2007, the driver, surnamed Li, hit a tricycle and injured a man surnamed He. Li fled but later surrendered to police. Li paid more than 60,000 yuan in compensation to He and then was denied compensation by the insurance firm.
