A MAN has been detained on suspicion of cheating his girlfriend out of 115,000 yuan (US$18,500) in a house-purchase swindle, prosecutors in the Pudong New Area said yesterday. The 62-year-old suspect, was taken into custody on March 10, after a woman reported the alleged crime to police. The suspect allegedly took the money as a down payment on a house he said he wanted to buy for the couple.
