THE Shanghai Intellectual Property Rights Court accepted 18 IPR cases in its first working day yesterday. The first case it accepted is related to a dispute over an invention patent infringement whose plaintiff is a subsidiary corporation of American computer maker Hewlett-Packard. The HP subsidiary accuses a local company of illegally producing and selling the ink box of its patented ink-jet printer, and is demanding 1 million yuan compensation.
