Jail for mother who cut off son鈥檚 fingers
A MOTHER who cut off three of her son’s fingers during an argument with her husband was sentenced to 18 months in prison for intentional injury, the Qingpu District People’s Court ruled yesterday.
The court heard the woman, surnamed Sun, had a dispute with her husband on April 2. As he was about to leave home, Sun took a knife and cut off the index, middle and ring fingers from the left hand of her 8-year-old son in attempt to stop her husband from going.
Sun turned herself in to police. The boy was sent to hospital immediately, but the doctors were unable to reattach his fingers.
The couple, who grow vegetables, have three children.
