Jewelry auction to help sick tots

NEARLY 100 exotic pieces of jewelry donated by 26 consulate generals in Shanghai and local jewelers were displayed starting yesterday at Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts before being put up for auction to help sick children, the Shanghai Women's Federation said.

The exhibition, organized by the federation and Consular Spouses Shanghai, is open from 9am to 4:30pm today and from 9am to noon tomorrow.

Expats are welcomed to visit and bid for the jewelry at the museum on 79 Fengyang Road, with free admission.

Silent auction bid sheets will be available for bidders for most of the items.

The high bidders will be announced and 10 items will be auctioned live at a banquet at the Grand Hyatt in the Pudong New Area on Thursday, the eve of International Women's Day. All income goes to the Shanghai Children's Foundation for disadvantaged children.
