Jewelry shop robbers indicted in Qingpu court
TWO men who robbed a gold bracelet worth over 40,000 yuan (US$6,360) from a First Asia Jewelry outlet have been charged with forcible seizure, Qingpu District prosecutors said today.
One of them, Zhao Xiaogang, entered the jewelry store on Gongyuan Road at lunchtime one day last month, pretending to be a customer. He asked a shop assistant to show him a gold ring but gave it back and said he wanted to buy a gold bracelet.
His partner Qian Wenbin was waiting outside on the watch.
When the shop assistant handed Zhao a 103-gram gold bracelet, Zhao ran out of the store, scrambled into a taxi with Qian and fled.
They were caught by Shanghai police in their hometown in Hunan Province and have confessed to their crime.
