Jilted ‘husband’ jailed over stabbing
A man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s friend during a confrontation over the couple’s breakup has been jailed for five years by the Songjiang District court for causing intentional injury.
Lu Jun and Xiao Ling, both migrant factory workers, married in a ceremony in their hometown, but did not formally register the union with authorities.
Prosecutors told the court Lu was ashamed when Xiao Ling broke up and “divorced” him.
In January, armed with a knife, he sneaked into Xiao Ling’s dormitory, pinching her neck to wake her and telling her to go with him. She refused.
During the confrontation, her friend, surnamed Chen, came to call her to dinner, saw what was happening and called security guards. Lu lunged at Xiao Ling with his knife, but she fled. Chen fell and was stabbed three times in the back.
