Judges, prosecutors to get salary increase

THE average income of judges and prosecutors will be set at 43 percent higher than other civil servants under a trial reform of the city’s judicial system, the Shanghai Politics and Law Commission said yesterday.
The revised pay scales were likely introduced to reduce the number of judges and prosecutors leaving the profession. Meanwhile, the retirement age for women judges and prosecutors has been raised to 60 from 55, with senior ranks expected to work until 62 or 63.
