Kidnappers caught in neighboring province
TWO kidnappers who had seized an accountant of a local entertainment company six days ago were caught in neighboring Jiangsu Province, Baoshan police said yesterday.
One of the kidnappers, Qin Feifei, who used to work in the entertainment company, said he kidnapped the victim, surnamed Lin, to blackmail the boss as they were relatives.
Lin was found missing on October 19 when her son couldn’t get through her on the night and next morning.
From a surveillance video, police found Lin driving into the residential complex at 9:58pm on October 19 but she is not seen after that.
On October 22, police found 40,000 yuan withdrawn from Lin’s account from two ATMs in Jiangsu Province.
Police then rechecked the surveillance video and found a car following Lin’s Volvo and exited soon after.
On closer examination they found a red purse on the backseat. Lin’s son said it was his mother’s purse.
Police tracked the car but were unable to find Lin.
Lin called up her son and asked him to make bank transfers. Police suspected it was someone from the company and zeroed in on a former employee Qin Feifei.
Lin was rescued after police caught up with Qin and his accomplice in a village in Jiangsu on October 26.
