A motorist handed himself in to police on Tuesday for killing a woman scooter rider, despite initially fleeing the scene, police said yesterday.
The incident happened about 5:10pm when the driver, surnamed Zhang, collided with the motorcycle on Jiatang Road near Zhao’an Road in Jiading District. The woman was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Zhang said he initially fled the scene but surrendered himself an hour later. Police said he admitted hitting the scooter as he was trying to overtake another car.
