Knifeman had mental problems
A MAN who stabbed one person to death and injured another five people in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area on Tuesday morning had a history of mental problems, police said yesterday.
According to a witness, the man, now in police custody, was seen chasing a number of people in the yard of a residence in Chenqiao Village in Beicai Town at around 9am. He then ran onto the roads and continued to attack strangers.
One victim died instantly. Two of the injured are in a critical condition. Among the injured was a 31-year-old Shanghai woman who was passing by at the time.
Another woman was attacked when she came out of her house nearby to see what was going on. Police said most of the injured and the suspect were from out of town.
