Laser tag teen gets injury cash
A laser tag center in Shanghai has been ordered to pay 70,000 yuan (US$10,500) in compensation to a 16-year-old boy who suffered a concussion when he fell off a one-meter high platform while playing the game, said Minhang District People’s Court.
The boy, surnamed Zhang, who went to the center with a group of schoolmates, was found to be 30 percent at fault because he was not wearing the helmet he was issued and should have been aware of the inherent risk involved in climbing onto the platform.
However, the court said the operator should have provided more detailed safety instructions and better supervision of young players.
The game center initially paid 2,000 yuan for Zhang’s medical treatment, but his parents were unsatisfied with the figure and sued for 100,000 yuan.
