Lean-meat powder found in beef products

SHANGHAI food safety watchdog said today that lean-meat powder has been found in some beef products sold in local supermarkets and the illegal additive was used by cattle farmers outside the city.
The problem products were found in a routine check last month and they came from a company not registered locally.
Food safety officials would not identify the company and its brand, but said it has been banned from entering the Shanghai market and all its beef products have been destroyed.
