Legislators elect new vice mayor
JIANG Ping, former secretary-general of the Shanghai municipal government and director of the government's general office, was elected vice mayor yesterday by local legislators.
Jiang, 54, a native of Zhejiang Province, started his political career as the secretary of Shanghai Politics and Law Committee and was appointed government secretary-general in 2008. Jiang has also served as vice governor of the Pudong New Area. Shanghai has nine vice mayors. Also yesterday, Hong Hao, former director of the Shanghai World Expo Coordination Bureau, was elected secretary-general of the city's government.
